I would definitely use a singular in "Ten days/weeks/months/years is a long time to wait." If "ten years" really means "a period of ten years" then I'm happy with a singular: " After ten years has passed you can apply for possession of the land ". But if you want to emphasise the cycle of time, then "have" sounds better. Ten years have passed - ten long, lonely years -. bid is twice a day. A latin abbreviation. qd = once daily bid = twice a day tid = three times a day qid = four times a day it is short for bis in die, ter in die and so on. Hi everybody, We can tell the time this way: It's one fifteen. It's one twenty. But: It's one oh five. When to add "oh"? I am wondering whether it's one oh ten or one ten :-< Thank you very much in advance for your help. Regards, Linh (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) Which helping verb should be used in these sentences. This is really confusing. Two and two (is/are) four. Two plus two (is/are) four. Two fives (is/are) ten. Two times five (is/are) ten. Thank you in advance :) Four Pillars Education Jacques Delors, , , , , , , 0, Four Pillars Of Education | Delor's Commission, educerecentre.com, 0 x 0, jpg, I would definitely use a singular in "Ten days/weeks/months/years is a long time to wait." Hello, What does it mean when someone says, "she is 20 years my junior/senior." Is there a difference in how these two words are used? Any insight is appreciated! :) Hello all, my question might be a typical case of splitting hairs since it doesn't make much of a difference whether or not you use the preposition "at"... but just out of curiosity, can anybody tell me if both of the following sentences are. hi there can someone tell me what expression I should use in two weeks/ weeks' or week's time? Thank you

Thank you Four and a half, as you expected, is indeed wrong. The other ways you mention are correct ("half after four" is not common where I live, but it follows the same construction as "quarter after four", so I don't see an issue). My father, my mother, my sister and me are the four members of my family. My father, my mother, my sister and I are the four members of my family. (I'll see if anyone argues before continuing!) I agree with you. However, for some speakers of British English, the I/me distinction after 'and' is becoming very vague. Hello everyone! I'm confused with years. We say 1994 (nineteen ninety-four) but 2001 (two thousand and one) But how do we say 2020? twenty twenty or two thousand and twenty? Does the same apply to 2090? Thank you in advance!:)
